Devlog 11 : Version 1.0
Introduction
The time has come for version 1.0 to be released. We added some more polish but the main game mechanics stayed the same. We are very content with our first major release. The beginning of the project was maybe a bit slower than we anticipated but when we got the run of things everything came together.
Polish
We polished the menu a bit more with a floating start button. We also added a credits screen which can be navigated to from the main menu.
In the victory scene the winning player has a different texture which makes the character smile. And of course we already have the winning and losing animations from last week.
The fireball now spawns particles when hitting something. This small change was a really good polish since the fireballs don't randomly disappear now.
We added some more props / foliage to the main level to make the player more immersed and also to make the level feel less empty.
Sounds were added to the rock. The rock has a specific sound for when landing and breaking on the ground. It also has an initial sound for when the rocks start falling. We implemented the sounds in a way that they sound slightly different each time. We achieved this by using different samples for the same audio effect and some random changes to pitch.
